Our Story

Sea Speed Pty (CMCS) was established in July 1989 by founders Paul Birgan and Vicki Birgan, driven by their vision to create modern, innovative boat designs for both pleasure and commercial use. With Paul Birgan's extensive knowledge in marine survey requirements — acquired from seven years in the Australian marine department survey and plan approval department — they started by designing small aluminium monohull work vessels and larger steel landing barges.

Milestones

In 1992, Sea Speed produced its first aluminium catamaran design for 'Studio Carina' in Italy. This 12-metre dive catamaran exceeded performance expectations, achieving speeds far above the contract specifications. Since then, the Sea Speed team has been in continuous operation, now boasting over 32 years of industry experience.

Our Expertise

Paul Birgan, the principal designer of the Sea Speed design team, leads a talented group of contract designers and naval architects, each specialising in their field. Utilising the latest computer design software including MAXSURF, Sea Speed creates state-of-the-art vessels based on a range of proven hull designs. Ongoing research and a rigorous tank testing program contribute to hull refinements, maximising performance and fuel efficiency.

Our Achievements

With over 150 successful vessel designs, Sea Speed now focuses on high-performance aluminium catamarans to meet market demand. Our vessels are currently under construction and in operation worldwide, continuing to set standards in the maritime industry.
